Burglar Trying To Get Inside A House

Does Your Home Have The Right Home Security Measures To Keep Off A Burglar?

How do you keep your home burglar-free? What are the various home security measures you need to implement aside from installing the latest home alarm system inside your residence? Your home is one of your major investments and any occurrence of burglaries and intrusions will pose serious threats not only to your most-prized possessions, but also to your life and that of your entire household as well.

Burglars operate in two major mechanisms. The first one include doing their deed “in pronto.” The second one would be the “premeditated” type and during these instances, these burglars would usually hang around in your neighborhood for days to weeks to an end, getting all the information about your habits and home security before finally breaking into your residence.

The “in pronto” burglars would usually be the ones who will break into your property mindlessly. If you have your alarm system in full protection during these moments, chances are, they would find other homes to break into. Now, the second type of burglars is the most dangerous. These people intend to break into your home for a particular belonging. They know for a fact there is something valuable inside your home worth breaking into. This may be your new plasma screen TV, your set of jewelries hidden in your room, or the stock of cash you keep in your safe.

The best way to ward off both “easy and difficult” burglars is by maximizing the security in your home, both on the basic and complex levels. Purchase more sensors and place them in various entrances where burglars would likely use as portals of entry. Aside from these, it is highly recommended you go back to the basics. It pays to purchase the best home security system but this alone doesn’t excuse you from exercising the basic measures of protecting your home. What would these be?

1.      Man’s best friend. Get yourself a dog, or dogs for that matter. Make sure they know how to bark and wake you up from a deep, long and good slumber at night!

2.      Additional chains and locks. It pays to have three locks in the main doors especially with the ones connected to the front and back porches. You may also go for an additional chain lock installed in case you need to talk to someone at the door.

3.      Thorough inspection. Always make it a habit to see to it that all windows are kept down at night. This also applies every time you go out to take a quick jog on the neighbourhood. A quick run-through of the entire house, from sockets, electricity, faucets, windows and doors make a complete assessment for your home’s security and protection.

4.      Low profile. Keep valuable things away from the main areas of the house. You may choose to keep your important belongings inside your room on a secured drawer.

5.      Chimes on openings. Yes, this may sound old-fashioned but chimes also make good home security equipments. Hang them in entrances where people are most likely/unlikely going to come in. This includes both doors and windows of your home. They come in handy especially at night.

Have you developed your own home security measures? Don’t wait for a burglary to happen before you even act upon tightening the security of your own home. Start now and be secured!
